sawastea,

i am looking for a new multi-vitamin. currently i use the GNC mega man sport multi. while it seems to supply most everything my body requires i am looking for something cheaper yet just as effective. i am sure the GNC label on the bottle causes the price to be marked up. any particular brand you recommend? at the store or online?

also, another question. what do you think of atlarge nutrition products? in particular their protein supplement.

regards,

stoner

Stoner,

In regards to the GNC Mega Man, that is probably one of the ONLY GNC products that I recommend. I currently own it and use it. In terms of better pricing, Optimum Nutrition Opti-Men is a great choice as is NOW Adam. Beverly Nutrition Multi is also fantastic, albeit expensive. Controlled Labs came out with a new product which I heard was good and AST's multi is also decent. My best suggestion in terms of buying supplements, is to get them online if possible, unless they're running a sale at the local store, where it's cheaper than online. Even with shipping, you'll save quite a few $$$ online.

In reference to Atlarge, I'm not too familiar with them. I do know that John Stone likes them, and he's alright in my book. I just looked over their products and saw Nitrean.
Is this what you're referring to? It is on the higher end of the price charts, but, it does contain a protein blend of whey, casein and egg. Due to this, the prices are normally a bit higher. Recently, whey prices have skyrocketed, so this might turn out to be a solid value. The supplement facts also seem to be solid. If you enjoy the taste, then go for it! My only suggestion is to combine this with oatmeal an hour before your workout and again, immediately after your workout. If you prefer a higher spike, and again, this is based on how YOUR body reacts, then you can opt to switch the oatmeal with a higher glycemic index carb, like dextrose and/or maltodextrin.

What protein supplement do you currently take?

Optimum Nutrition Chocolate tastes very good.

Buy a shaker w/ a strainer, it is the greatest stupid little thing ever invented. Put water, ice, and 2 scoops, shake it up good, put the stranier in to stop the ice from popping you in the face, and it makes making a protein shake very easy and tasty.

If you are looking for low card, ISOPure has the premade bottles of all of these fruity flavors that taste very good as well.

All stuff I have been using that has shown results.

I am currently taking MHP's Probolic-SR 12 Hr Muscle Feeder. This meat head at my gym recommended it to me. The vanilla has really good taste. Only problem is I bought it at GNC & so the price is marked up significantly. Been scouring the net trying to find a better deal b/c I really like this protein supplement.

cleo,

protein bars are good for mass. not for getting lean. they usually have a pretty good amount of sugar in them.

Its tough to answer that question in general.

if you are looking to gain mass, all that matters is how many calories you burn to how much you put in. You HAVE to write out everything you eat on a normal day, with the calories mainly, but protein, fat and carbs as well. Then write out your activites. You can google how many calories you burn during different activites to see where you stand. The average person about 180-200 pounds, burns about 2,500 calories a day let's just say.

When you write it out, you may THINK you are eating alot because you eat 6 meals, but then it turns out the math only works out to 2,200 and then you will be surprised if you start LOSING weight or maintaing your weight.

So you gotta get up to 3,000 minimum to put on weight, and it needs to be written out to be sure. From there, you will be able to see if the bar is enough or not, then you go from there.

sawastea may have some better tips for you.

What are most people's honest opinions on leukic?

Is it a bunch of bullshit? My buddy, who was skinny as a rail, starting taking it and put on about 10 lbs of muscle in a few months. Not sure if it was that was the cause or not- he seems to think it is.

You guys LOVE paying for Muscle Tech products, damn!

Cell-Tech is okay, but you could create it yourself for 1/4 the price. Personally, I like CEE, and there are many options out there.

Okay, in terms of creating 'cell-tech', you'll need the following:

1. Pure creatine monohydrate powder (unflavored) - I prefer micronized creatine which is available from various manufacturers. Look for the "Creapure" logo.

2. Pure dextrose or Gatorade powder (if you use pure dextrose you may want to add a teaspoon or half a teaspoon of Koolaid or lemonade mix to it to help the flavor)

3. ALA capsules or powder (powder is available from Beyond a Century but has a burning sensation when you swallow it, but is much cheaper)

4. Optional: Vitamin C tablets or pure powder (BAC carries this as well) and taurine.

Directions:

Mix either 2-3 scoops of Gatorade powder, or enough servings of Dextrose for at least 30g of carbs (you really don't need 75g unless you feel like you need to) with 10g of creatine powder. Add 1 level scoop of ALA powder, or enough for ~200mg and 1-2g of taurine. Add water (and optional flavoring). Also, add your Vitamin C powder or take your tablet before hand. Stir until the ALA and creatine dissolve fully and drink.

They should also be available from your favorite supplement shops elsewhere.

Over-priced. The idea behind it is justified, but paying $50+ for limited servings, along with Geukic (sp?) is asinine. I'm sure your friend would also put on 10lbs of muscle eating top round steak every day too.

If you could get it from cheap, then get it, but if you're paying retail, then don't.

In order to make them stick, you may need to add honey to the mix, but yea, making your own protein bars are great because you KNOW what's going in there, but more importantly, you know what's NOT going in there

Hey Guys...I just bought a Whey Protein supplement at Wallmart put out by
Body Fortress 2lbs for $12.97. The ingredients say Whey protein concentrate
and Whey protein isolate, two scoops = 46g of protein. There are 30 scoops per container and I had planned on taking 1 scoop in the morning and one either afternoons or evenings. I'm am clueless about these products other than everyone seems to be in agreement that Whey is a must in our daily diets. Questions...1. Is anyone familiar with this product? 2. Is a scoop in the morning and then another later in the day or 46g of protein sufficient? 3. Should I be purchasing another product or do you think this one is sufficient?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for offering to answer questions.

My next one is about cardio and lifting. Which should I do first? The 30 minutes of cardio or the 45 minutes of lifting.

How would it be to break it up into morning and early evening workouts? Which is better in the morning?
